MainStage for Musical Theatre is now part of Apple MainStage Keyboard Programming, a complete tutorial series on Apple MainStage for keyboardists, music directors, and keyboard programmers.

Flip through any modern musical theatre keyboard score, and you’ll likely see text boxes containing information like “Warm Strings,” “Guitar,” or “Patch TBD”. These sounds are commonly referred to as “patches,” and the process of finding, organizing, and mapping sound patches to a keyboard is called “keyboard programming”. Imagine a 1980’s-themed show like The Wedding Singerwithout those cheesy DX-7 keyboard sounds, or** Wicked** without its plethora of sampled sounds. There are a few different ways to create sound patches for shows. In this series, “MainStage for Musical Theatre,” we’ll be covering everything you’ll need in order to start programming keyboards for your own productions.
